MITCHELL WEDDING

Shelby Andrews + Joe Wiley Mitchell Wedding | 2.24.24

When I first met Shelby and her sweet mom for coffee at a local Dothan coffee shop, I knew it was a match made in heaven! As we started talking, we realized that she and her fiancee Joe Wiley were both in law school with my husband and that wasn’t even how she found me in the first place! It was such a fun coincidence and it made an instant connection.

Shelby is just one of those lovable people and getting to meet Joe Wiley during their engagement session was just the cherry on top. They were so sweet together, even in the humidity of an early downtown Montgomery session, and I left thinking ‘Oh that’s going to be one amazing wedding’ - and I was SOOOO RIGHT. Just scroll through and look at all of these amazing details.

My second photographer, Sarah Street, photographed some of their day on film and I attached some of those beautiful photos at the end of this blog post with a little description on what makes film so memorable on a wedding day AND why you should love it too!

This wedding took place in Montgomery, AL on a gorgeous February day.

So excited to share these beautiful images from such an incredible day <3

Here’s some of my favorite film photos that Sarah snapped for Shelby + JW on their big day.

Sarah used 35mm film and medium format.

Film has a certain persona to an image. It comes across like a live thing, like you could reach out and touch that memory.

It’s not about ‘nailing’ the focus. It’s not about getting the right colors in camera. You can’t even see what you’re shooting when you shoot film, so when you get your film scanned and your film lab sends it back - it’s like Christmas Day!!! It’s opening a gift.

Digital images are great. I’ll never not use a digital camera. But the anticipation of creating something and having to wait to see how it actually came out is unlike the ‘immediate gratification’ world we live in.

The nostalgic feeling you get from a 35mm film scan is unbeatable. <3
